Newsletter No 3 Monday 6th November 2017

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to what will be a very busy 7 weeks! Winter is well on its way so please make sure your children are wrapped up well. As we enter the period of Advent the “Well” will be open every Friday morning for parents to come in for some quiet reflection time.

Sponsor Money: We are now collecting in sponsor money so please send it in as soon as possible. Please place the money in an envelope clearly marked with your child’s name and class.

Mother Teresa Catholic Academy Trust: Dr McCafferty (Chair of Directors) wrote to all parents last academic year to inform you that other schools would be joining the academy trust. Bishop Philip and the Diocesan trustees have recently reviewed this policy and have decided to call a halt to the academies programme. As a result, no schools will be joining the trust in the short term. We will of course keep you updated if there are any future changes.

Early Drop off: There are a number of pupils that are being dropped off early in the morning. There is no supervision in school before 8.30am and if pupils come early they must attend breakfast club where they can be suitably supervised. This is for the children’s safety. If they attend breakfast club they need to buy something to eat and drink. Your understanding is appreciated.

We are currently recruiting staff in our nursery if you are interested please contact the school office.

Advent Liturgies:

Please make a note of the dates and times so that you can attend. As we did two years ago each liturgy will finish with a short period of adoration in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. The liturgies last approximately 35 minutes if you have to work around other commitments. We would like as many parents as possible to come and worship with us, it makes it so much more meaningful for the children.

Remembrance Poppies:

These are on sale now at the school. Our school council will be selling them each day for the children to purchase. We suggest a minimum of 20p. The area outside St Benedict’s will be the focal point for our celebrations this year. We have our memorial crosses displayed so if you would like to say a prayer for a lost one then please feel free to do so. Our Flag will be flying at half-mast until 13th November as a mark of respect.

Admission for Reception places September 2018: County application forms are now available online and school Supplementary information forms are available to collect from the school. Both forms are required to be completed for a place at St Joseph’s School. The closing date for applications is Monday 15th January 2018.
